Chives, Murmansk-NEW in 2023!
This is a lovely new chive plant that was given to me by John Swenson, allium expert and noted seed saver. He got seed from the USDA germplasm resources network in 1983 and they got seeds donated from the Botanic Garden of Murmansk in 1962. He has entrusted me with disseminating this treasure of an herb! It has large substantial round leaves, but they are tender and crisp. The flavor is onion-y and fresh. I grab a leaf to chew on every time I walk by it in the field! The flowers are large globes of medium dark purple and exceptionally beautiful.
